IT Operations Team Leader (NSR) 

 

Department –IT Operations  

 

Responsible to: IT Operations manager  

 

Location: Bury  

 

Hours – 08:00-16:30 or 08:30-17:00 (40 hours 

 

 

Role Overview 

 

Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the IT Operations team leader will be part of the strategic management team for Operations, responsible for the successful management of daily activities within the New Services and Roll Outsteam(NSR)The purpose of the role is to manage the team, control and coordinate workload, drive quality, consistency and improvements within the NSRteam 

The NSR team are responsible for the commissioning of new services such asbut not limited to, new offices, new warehouse hubs, new proof of concept trials, new equipment and technology, and mass roll outs to the retail estate. 

 

Key Responsibilities  

 

Accountabilities and Tasks: 

 

To be responsible for the management of team, workload,and day to day activities. 

 

  • - Leading the team, providing guidance, mentoring, and direction, and overseeing their multiple pieces of work. 

  • - Coordinating the efforts of the team to ensure that all NSR work is on track and meeting the objectives. 

  • - Developing and implementing best practices and standards alongside IT Ops management. 

  • - Providing regular updates and progress reports to senior management on the status of all pieces of work.  

  • - Leading weekly review informing stakeholders of each roll out being managed in the team  

  • - Identifying and addressing any issues or obstacles that may be impacting the progress of each workstream.  

  • - Managing relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring they are kept informed of progress and changes.  

  • - Ensuring team adherence to the group’s methodology and procedures. 

  • - Conducting 1:1’s and team meetings with team.  

  • - Manage HR related aspects within the team such as holidays, performance reviews and absence management. 

  • - Be responsible for documenting and training processes to the team.  

  • - Oversee any escalated issues for IT Operations management.  

  • - Feed into strategic team reporting for IT Operations.  

  • - Participating in budget planning for the NSR team. 

  • - Ensure thorough resource planning for the team is controlled and feeds into the wider IT Ops resource scheduling for engineering and dispatch teams.   

  • - Manage all roll outs as a programme of works for the NSR team, ensuring there are no conflicting priorities and resource.   

  • - Reviewing and signing off project plans and timelines alongside regional and scheduling coordinators.  

  • - Allocating resources and assigning tasks to team members. 

  • - Managing and monitoring progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. 

  • - Communicating with stakeholders and team members to ensure everyone is on the same page and any issues are addressed in a timely manner 

  • - Helping team identify and manage risks to their projects(RAID/AIR). 

  • - Guiding in the adjustment of project plans and timelines as needed to stay on track. 

  • - Providing leadership and guidance to team members to help them achieve their goals and complete their tasks. 

  • - Tracking and reporting on team’s workload, metrics, and progress. 

  • - Developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and team members. 

 

Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed: 

Essential 

  • Problem solving skills within an IT environment. 
  • IT project background essential. 
  • Must be team manager,or had 1 year minimum team management experience.  
  • Minimum of 3 years project background experience.  
  • Project qualifications such as Agile or Prince. 

 

Preferable 

  • Experience working in a retail environment. 
  • Good understanding of software tools such as Microsoft Project, excel and Visio. 
  • Experience working with an IT ticketing software
